The Trust was founded in 1983 in memory of Charles Pope, a former teacher at Aylesbury Grammar School, who made an outstanding contribution to musical life in Aylesbury. During his time in Aylesbury, he set up the Aylesbury Orchestra, Choral Society, Consort of Voices and Ladies' Choir (all of which have now been operating for over 50 years) as well as the former String Orchestra (now discontinued).
Small grants are available to assist with the cost of musical education. Applicants (who may be of any age) must have lived or been educated in the area administered by Aylesbury Vale District Council for 2 years or more and be able to provide a reference as to their musical competence. There is no fixed limit on family income.
The Trustees meet three times per year to consider applications. All applications are considered on their individual merits, taking all financial and other circumstances into account.
Application forms are available from the Secretary and should be submitted by the middle of October, February or May, in order for references to be taken up prior to the meeting.
If you would like to help support musicians and musical education in Aylesbury Vale, please contact the Secretary. All donations, large or small are very much appreciated.
