 Cuddington today

Cuddington today is a vibrant village of approximately 600 inhabitants. Much of the village is within a Conservation Area. It has a range of societies including the Womens' Institute, the Sunshine Club for older residents, a Gardening Club and a History Society. Cricket, tennis and football are played on the Playing Fields, which are managed by the Playing Fields Association. The Parish Council meets monthly to transact village business. The Bernard Hall is available for both village and private functions. There is also an Allotment Society and a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.

St. Nicholas' Church plays a prominent role in the village. It operates a transport scheme to help villagers attend appointments and meetings. The bell ringers meet weekly on Friday nights to practice. There is a social coffee morning open to all on Thursday mornings in the Church and regular parish and harvest suppers. The Parish Magazine is shared with Haddenham. A most successful venture has been the monthly church and village Newsletter -"Village Voice" - which has been published for the last five years to enhance communication in the village. It is distributed to all free and includes an advertisement supplement. Cuddington Methodist Church has a Sunday service at 6pm as well as other activities.

The village also holds an annual fete in July and the Cuddington Church of England First School provides a much valued education.

The village has a reputation for cleanliness and floral excellence with frequent awards in the Best Kept Village and the Britain in Bloom competitions in which Cuddington has been a winner or runner up on most occasions. Some of the owners of gardens in the village participate in the National Open Gardens Scheme.

However, there are currently some issues of concern which are shared by many other villages. Parking and the volume and speed of traffic through the village present serious problems. The provision of affordable housing and the desirability of attracting young families to the village are preoccupations, together with the scarcity of young children. In 2004 only 7 children from Cuddington attended the village school. The provision of suitable facilities for young people is currently under review.
