Village Day is Saturday July 10th 2010!
The date for this years Village Day is Saturday 10 July 2010 publicised in the Autumn Hughenden News when it was announced that I was Chairing the Village Day Committee. Since then several people who I approached for help and other volunteers met in early December 2009 and have formulated a plan of action that stuttered to a halt over Christmas and will now gain a little momentum I hope. Several attractions have already been booked which include Childrens Fairgound Rides, Childrens Entertainer, Pony Rides, Hog Roast and a Falconry Display Team. Last of all at most important we are having a Mobile Bar that will be selling a full range of drinks, with real ale from Rebellion Brewery. The Football Club is organising an Adults Six a Side Soccer Competition to run on the Football Field.
We are looking at advertising the event as Hughenden Valley Village Day Country Fayre, hoping that everyone will enter in to the spirit of the day and dress up as much as they want to.
As well as the Falconry Display, we are discussing other Arena Events, such as a Village Dog Competition and a Talent Contest. Hopefully we can have the Karate Team displaying once I have approached Roger and a Country Dancing Display from the School who will also be approached.
What I would like is to be contacted by anybody who wishes to proviide a stall, outside of our Tombola, and BBQ stalls and the Coconut Shy that I hope to lend from the Scouts. I would welcome contact from anyone who is interested in coming along who might be selling or displaying as well as helpers on the day.
Finally, I would like to see a better Parade leading up to the opening of our festivities. I am sure you agree that this has dwindled in past Village Days probably due to Health & Safety issues as far as floats are concerned. However, I hope to have a Steam Engine leading the Parade just behind the Piper and would dearly love to hear from anyone who is interested in participating.
Thats about as far as we have gone at present.
Roger
