Report of Recent Event
1) Monday evening session Last Monday (15/2) , a full hall of members and friends watched a demonstration of Pen and Wash by professional artist David James from Bedford, who then donated the completed picutre of a Devon village to the Group. It will be framed and no doubt contribute to our fundraising at some future point! We have a full house for this Saturday's workshop when Jane Wheaton will be guiding us through 'Landscapes with Impact' ! 2) Junior Art Half term Workshop Walking With Dinosaurs February 2010 As the title suggests Geoff , Margaret and her usual bunch of trusty helpers were again with the local children giving them an afternoon of art ! Joking apart, nineteen children settled down to a very hard working workshop with Geoff. The subject was 'Dinosaurs in a swamp'. Geoff had prepared sheets of drawings of various dinosaurs for the children to use. These were copied, painted, cut out, and then glued to good effect onto a background of a swamp which the children had painted. Even with such a large class you could not hear a pin drop, the children’s level of concentration was amazing ! The subject was obviously a good choice. The age of the group is very diverse from seven year olds to nearly twelve. All the helpers, (let's name them for a change !) Doreen, Anne, Brenda, Philip and Barbara were kept very busy giving advice and the odd helping hand. Their most popular task ( with the children) was serving juice and biscuits always a welcome break at half time. This is such a worthwhile activity, really appreciated by the young people and I know they are already looking forward to the next one in May. Margaret
