Mobile Phone Insurance
A friend of mine was telling me of his experiences with the T Mobile phone insurance that he took out for his son's Christmas present - a mobile phone of some stature.
Recently, his son took an exam at his school and had to leave his bag, with mobile phone, in a corridor outside the exam room. It was while there that the phone was stolen.
This was where the Mobile Phone Insurance was to come in, as the fliers had advertised "Peace of Mind against Theft". As this was an undoubted case of theft, it was assumed that it would be covered. But no. "Read the small print Sir". There it was - only covered against theft if there is evidence of a break-in. So the most likely cause of theft goes uncovered.
T Mobile are still selling this insurance policy. It seems to be a case of "What the big print giveth, the small print taketh away" As nobody reads the small print, they are on to a winner. Help make them realise that sharp practice dooms a company and do not buy this policy and change your mobile network provider when it is time to renew. Unless, of course, all mobile phone operators have the same exclusion clauses in their Mobile Phone Insurance policies.
I had a run-in with T Mobile some time ago and they appointed bailiffs as one of their first actions, even though my claim for not paying their inflated bill was justified (and they waived their demands later). It seems that they have not changed. Best avoided.
