The Ickford community is a small one but very enthusiastic about keeping their people happy and connected. Hence, they organize several events throughout the year for the people to join in as families and enjoy particular family time and help build the community.
They have regular parish council meetings to address the issues that they face, and they look for constant solutions to the problems. That is the one way that they believe they can succeed.
A Little About Ickford
Ickford is a small village in Buckinghamshire. Oxfordshire is on its boundary, and it is about four miles from Thame. The River Thame is on the southern border of the parish. This river boundary has been the location of the annual tug-of-war between Ickford and Tiddington. The Ickford Parish consists of three hundred mixed properties and about 550 electors. Though it is a small community, it is a very close-knit one. The people work together to bring about all the improvements that one would need in the area. They are always willing to contribute ideas and help in the form of skills despite their busy schedules.
Some Amenities of the Ickford Community
Ickford has a church, a village hall, a primary school, and a pub called The Rising Sun. A lot has changed and improved over the years, and the internet has had an enormous role in the development of the community. There are a shop and post office. People can pay their bills and withdraw money at many central banks at no extra cost. They can order currency and buy euros over the counter with no commission. They can also purchase insurance, stamps, and postal orders.
The Rising Sun is not just an ordinary pub. There are a large beer garden and playground for children, so families enjoy an excellent quiet time there, especially on weekends, with a delicious home-cooked meal and quality draught beers and lagers. This traditional public house can make your visit there a memorable one. Whether you are there alone, as a couple, or with your whole family, it will be something you will never forget.
The Ickford pavilion is a recreation ground that the people built. The Ickford football team used this ground for many years. When they stopped playing there, the pavilion began to decline. They managed to get some grants to refurbish it, and it is now ready for action. People hire the ground for events, and they have coffee morning there every Monday morning. There is a pavilion committee that manages the land.
About The Ickford Parish Council Meetings
The Ickford Parish Council has a meeting on the first Wednesday of every month in Ickford Village Hall (Bridge Road) at 8 pm. There are no scheduled meetings for January or August. If anyone wants to bring anything to the council’s notice, they are requested to contact them four days before a scheduled meeting, at least. Everyone is welcome to attend each session as the parish is always open to new ideas and suggestions. They are also looking forward to all the help they can get from the parishioners. So, if you can contribute in some way, they would like to meet with you.
