Marylebone Travellers Association

The Marylebone Travellers Assocation was set up to fight the proposed closure of Marylebone Station in the early 1970's. Since then there have been a number of subsequent attempts to close the station and these have also been fought. Now the station is being expanded and serves a large number of regular commuters and leisure travellers from Midlands to Buckinghamshire.

The Marylebone Travellers Association (MTA) is a Rail User Group. It represents the interests of regular users of Marylebone Station and particularly passengers of Chiltern Railways on the High Wycombe line from Denham to High Wycombe.

The MTA is entirely independent of other organisations and rail bodies and exists solely for the interests of its members. The MTA is a member of Railfuture and the Federation of Metropolitan Line Users.

The MTA participates in Chiltern Railways Passenger Board meetings and meets several times a year to identify issues to be raised with Chiltern Railways and other bodies regarding the interests of users of Chiltern Railways and Marylebone Station. Particular effort is devoted to reviewing timetables, changes to station buildings, access arrangements and car parking. On occasion exceptional issues arise and the views of participating members are represented.

The MTA has office holders of a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.

Membership of the MTA costs £1 for life.

CURRENT ISSUES

Current issues are:

Overcrowding on some trains and a lack of car parking spaces at many Chiltern Line stations.

We have been seeking for some time the re-opening of the southern access path to the station at Gerrards Cross.
