We are proud that the inspirational movement of the Paralympics started in Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire and Bucks County Council is leading a project to ensure that this is recognised by the world. In the lead up to London 2012 we want to celebrate this legacy through a range of activities involving past Paralympians, disabled artists, school children, young people and local residents.
In 2012, the South East will be part of the sporting action, hosting the Rowing and Canoe/Kayak events at Eton Dorney. The region will also be a vital gateway for visitors and athletes to the London 2012 Games.
Being part of the 2012 Games is something that's already started: by volunteering, through events in the Cultural Olympiad, as a supplier to the Games and more.
