Walking Festival Report - June 2010

We enjoyed another very successful weekend with over 200 people participated in the third 'Experience the Chilterns' Princes Risborough Walking Festival on Saturday & Sunday. Walkers came from as far afield as Nottingham, Hampshire and London to join our programme of themed walks around the town and into the local countryside.

The weather was fabulous and Chilterns took centre stage.  Special features this year included a Family Walk with children’s quiz and a mid-week Wild Orchid Safari. For many though it was simply the chance to join others on a stroll or longer ramble into our wonderful local countryside.

The event has been another huge success and a tribute to the support we have had from local businesses, traders, the Town Council, WDC and yourselves. It was particularly pleasing to see so many of our participants supporting town centre traders on both days.

The feedback has been very positive and the 'Experience the Chilterns' Walking Festival is now firmly 'on the map' as an annual event for serious hikers and local rambler alike.

We are already planning new walks for 2011 and following the success of our first midweek walk with 30 joining the Wild Orchid safari on the Tuesday evening we will be looking at extending the Festival into the preceding week.
