Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy

In 2007, all five of Buckinghamshire's councils formally approved and adopted a Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy. The Waste Strategy and its supporting Action Plan Statement sets out ten policies which will tackle Buckinghamshire’s waste. In essence this will be achieved in three main ways:

  • reducing the growth in waste through waste minimisation initiatives and communication projects;
  • collecting and processing more recyclable materials;
  • managing the residual waste left over after recycling.

The Strategy aims to see Buckinghamshire recycling and composting 45% of its waste by 2011 and aspires to hit 60% by 2025. Today Buckinghamshire already recycles over 40%, but there is more we could do.
