Petition:
Disabled Access to the Bell's Hill shops.
The first shops in the Bell's Hill Development are by the bottom of Bell's Hill Green with steps, but no ramp, down to street level. This is close to the garage access road that is a popular pedestrian cut-through to Bold's Court, Rogers Lane, the School, and beyond. This cut-through has a ramp bypassing the steps between the Bold's Court and garage access roads, but its users with restricted mobility or pushchairs, on arriving at the shops, will face only steps, or a long detour round the site.
To protest this deficiency, please sign one of the forms at the Portakabin Post Office, Bal's Chemist, or the Doctors' surgery.

Inaugural Open Evening at Stoke Place
Our village is over 1000 years old and is listed in the Domesday Book. Some of you might have read the late Lionel Rigby’s book published in 2000 which surveys the history of our unique heritage. And so it has been decided that our village deserves a Society that will continue to uncover and preserve the valuable archive material that exists, and through activities and meetings stimulate interest in our locality, and build upon the marvellous work of Lionel Rigby.
We are therefore proud and delighted to announce the formation of The Stoke Poges Society. The aim of the Society is to promote an awareness of the historical and cultural associations of the area. The Society will hold six meetings a year which will include talks, visits and Members’ Evenings. Have you ever wondered about what life was like in former centuries, how your road got its name, or would you like to know more about the grand houses in the village and famous former residents? Or perhaps you have some old photographs of the village you would like to know more about. Members will be able to access archive material and pursue their own research which they may like to share with the rest of the Society, formally or informally. Already a group of Stoke Poges residents has met to discuss the way forward, and a committee is being formed under the Acting Chairmanship of Roger Askew. An immediate project is the reprinting of Lionel Rigby’s book, in conjunction with the Parish Council.
We launched the Society at an Open Evening on Tuesday May 12th 2009 at Stoke Place with about 120 people attending. Marian Miller, Conservation Officer for South Bucks District Council, spoke about the Conservation areas in the Village, and the forthcoming Review, in which she looked forward to members of the Society being actively involved. We are most grateful to Mr. Michael Eutrope, the Manager of Stoke Place for hosting the event. There were displays of photographs and interesting historical artefacts. The launch was considered very enjoyable and successful, with over 80 people signing up on the night and more application forms taken away for completion. Thank you to all who provided help for this event.
