BCC Area 12 Speed Limit Review
You may have seen the invitation on the large yellow signs alongside the main roads seeking comment on the current speed limit review in our area.
Whitchurch is on the Western edge of Area 12 which is bounded by the A413 running from Aylesbury to Buckingham and extends to Wing and the Brickhills.
Our village is affected particularly by three proposed amendments.
1/ Moving the 30mph sign as you enter Whitchurch from Aylesbury down the hill to the village name plate.
2/ Moving the 30mph sign as you enter Whitchurch from Cublington back to the village name plate.
3/ Reducing the speed on the A413 between Whitchurch and to a point South of Hardwick from 60mph to 40mph
At the meeting of the Parish Council on Monday 8th March it was agreed to write in favour of amendments 1/ and 2/ but to propose that the limit for amendment 3/ should be 50mph and not 40mph.
In addition the Council proposed that the 30mph sign as you enter Whitchurch from Winslow be moved back around the corner to the village name plate. This they said would slow down traffic approaching this dangerous bend from the North before entering the villege but as importantly deter drivers, particularly motorcyclists, accelerating from the roundabout to the de-restricted sign as it would be out of view.
You too can have your say. The closing date is 19th March. Details are below
